Serbia commits another €6.5 million to complete Belgrade’s Church of Saint Sava

BELGRADE, Serbia | Serbia has pledged an additional €6.5 million to fund the final stages of work on the Church of Saint Sava, under an agreement signed by Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia and Prime Minister Djuro Macut that secures the resources needed to complete a project of particular importance to the Serbian Orthodox Church and the Serbian state.

The document was signed on June 28, 2026 — the day of Vidovdan, or St. Vitus Day, a central date in Serbian religious and national memory — in the crypt of the Church of Saint Sava in Belgrade.
