ORTHODOXIA.INFO | Andreas Loudaros It appears that recent reports in the Greek media of a dramatic drop in the number of Russian pilgrims visiting Greece are being categorized as fake news, with many questioning the purpose of such reports and their authors’ intentions.
Orthodoxia.info contacted Mouzenidis Travel, Greece’s largest travel agency, which specializes in organizing trips between Greece and Russia as well as in religious tourism, that is, pilgrimages to Greece’s various monasteries and other sacred sites.
According to Alexei Petrichko, manager of the pilgrim center at Mouzenidis Travel, “after the events [in Minsk] there have only been two cancellations, and since then nothing else.”
Indeed, Mr Petrichko noted that the latest statistics indicate that visits organized by his agency have actually increased by 25 per cent, and not just visits related to pilgrimage, but to tourism in general.
