His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel expressed his grief over the losses suffered by Greece and Turkey following the earthquake on Friday. His Beatitude sent a message of solidarity to Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew:
His Holiness Bartholomew I,
Archbishop of Constantinople and Ecumenical Patriarch
Your Holiness,
We learned with deep sorrow about the strong earthquake that occurred on October 30, 2020 near the coast of Izmir, with over 20 dead and 800 injured.
In these moments of trial, we offer prayers to the crucified and risen Christ to rest the souls of the dead, to give speedy healing to the wounded and help to all those who have been affected by the earthquake.
We express our compassion and solidarity with those affected and pray to God to protect the entire world from earthquakes and other calamities.
With much appreciation and brotherly love in Christ the Lord,
† Daniel
Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church
