Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Patras urges renewed demand for justice for Cyprus


PATRAS, Greece | Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Patras urged renewed public pressure for justice for Cyprus during a July 20 commemoration for those killed and missing after the 1974 Turkish invasion, saying the continuing injustice that keeps the island divided is a shame for “civilized” humanity.

Speaking at the Monastery of Prophet Elijah in Patras, the metropolitan said remembrance must be joined to a firm demand for redress. He said the situation has continued since 1974 with the tolerance of the powerful.
