WASHINGTON, United States | Archbishop Elpidophoros of America held two protocol meetings in Washington focused on the Halki Theological School and relations between the Ecumenical Patriarchate and the Holy See.
Elpidophoros visited Greece’s ambassador to the United States, Antonios Alexandridis, returning the Greek diplomat’s earlier visit to the headquarters of the Archdiocese.
According to the announcement, the two sides discussed continuing efforts and “encouraging developments” regarding the reopening of the Theological School.
The archbishop also briefed Alexandridis on the 48th Clergy-Laity Congress, which recently concluded in Cleveland, Ohio.
In a second meeting, Elpidophoros congratulated the new Apostolic Nuncio to the United States, Archbishop Gabriele Caccia, on the start of his diplomatic mission.
